Numerous international sporting events are hosted in the emirate every year, including the world’s richest horse race – The Dubai World Cup, the Dubai Desert Classic golf championship, the Dubai Tennis Championship, Dubai Rugby Sevens, UIM Class 1 World Offshore Powerboat Championship, and Dubai Marathon to name just a few.

Golfing In Dubai

Dubai has long been considered a true paradise for golfers, with its rich style for beautifying the golf courses, making them very similar to the class and professionalism of the courses available within the United States and Europe. The facilities provided at the various golfing resorts in Dubai are considered to be very advanced, making it a great attraction for golfers from all over the world.

If you like rock climbing you can find a number of locations close to Dubai, from easy routes for beginners right through to very severe and extreme grades. There is a climbing wall at the Pharoah’s Club, with climbs of varying degrees of difficulty.

Even though Dubai doesn’t seem like the ideal place for a ski vacation,  Ski Dubai located within the Mall Of the Emirates is the world’s third-largest indoor ski slope, measuring 400 meters and using 6,000 tonnes of snow. The feature a revolving ski slope, an artificial mountain range, an ice bridge, a cable lift, a snow maze, an ice slide, penguins, cold-water aquaria, and special sound and light effects.

Another winter sport offered in Dubai is ice skating, in fact, Dubai has quite a few ice rinks, the oldest of them are located at Al Nasr Leisureland and the Hyatt Regency Galleria. The newest and most modern ice rink is located in the Dubai Mall. Dubailand will have a huge ice rink at its proposed Snowdome. Skates and instructors are available at most of the locations. The rinks are closed to the public during instruction periods and timetables should be consulted before going.

 

Outdoor Sports In Dubai

If you prefer sports you can practice in the sun, you might enjoy sailing on sailing boats, dinghies, or even traditional dhows. Or go parasailing behind a high powered boat that glides up and down the coastline of Dubai. This activity is offered at the watersport facilities of luxurious hotels along the coast.
